Oxford Global Game Jam 2017

21st January 2017 @ 10:30 am - 22nd January 2017 @ 9:00 pm

Oxford Hackspace is joining the Global Game Jam as a venue this weekend. The Global Game Jam is an international gathering of game developers and creatives who aim to make a game or digital experience in 48 hours, as a team or solo.

We’re meeting at The Blenheim on Friday for the briefing, forming teams and decide on the idea. This is when the theme is announced.

The event at the hackspace will run from 10:30am Saturday til late, then from 10:30am Sunday til 9pm.

Like the Aaron Schwartz hackathon we’ve participated in in the past, this event is international in the sense that groups all over the world are getting together on the same weekend in support of the same idea: creating digital games.

Everyone interested in making a game or trying out their creative skills is invited to this freeform collaborative event! No programming experience necessary, there are tools available for all levels if you want to join us!

There will be a fee of £2 per day or £3 for the weekend for non-members, or free for members of Oxford Hackspace.

The venue is accessible with a lift–please call 07901 257637 to be let into the carpark if this is your circumstance.

The tag line for the international event is “Innovation. Collaboration. Experimentation. Get together and create games in one weekend in hundreds of locations worldwide,” and you can read more about it at http://globalgamejam.org/, or on Twitter, by following @globalgamejam and the #GGJ17 hashtag.

Hope to see you there on Saturday!
